The RAM TRX is the pinnacle of factory-built modern muscle trucks. With 702 horsepower from the supercharged 6.2L HEMI, it dominates the dirt and the drag strip. But for the serious enthusiast, 702 is just the starting line. Pushing a 6,000-pound beast past the 800-horsepower mark requires more than just a heavy right foot: it requires precision engineering, proper thermal management, and high-performance hardware.
At DTX Performance, we specialize in modern muscle. We don't just sell parts; we provide the blueprint for excellence. If you are ready to transform your TRX into a 10-second family hauler while maintaining the reliability you expect, this is how you do it safely.
Build Your Foundation: Thermal Management
Power is nothing without cooling. When you increase boost on a Hellcat-powered platform, heat becomes your primary enemy. High Intake Air Temperatures (IATs) will cause the PCM to pull timing, killing your performance before you even reach the finish line.
To safely push past 800 HP, your first mission is keeping the charge air cool.
- Low-Temp Thermostat (180°F): Swapping the factory thermostat for a 180°F unit allows the cooling system to begin circulating earlier, lowering the overall operating temperature of the engine. This provides more headroom for aggressive timing.
- Upgraded Heat Exchangers: The factory intercooler system is adequate for stock boost, but it heat-soaks rapidly under increased load. Upgrading to a high-capacity aluminum heat exchanger ensures consistent power delivery during back-to-back pulls.
- Sealed Cold Air Intake: Airflow is critical. The aFe Momentum GT Intake is a direct-fit solution that replaces the restrictive stock box, feeding the supercharger with a higher volume of cooler air.

Select Your Boost: The Pulley Upgrade
The fastest way to unlock power in the TRX is to increase the rotational speed of the 2.4L IHI supercharger. This is achieved by reducing the size of the upper pulley.
For a reliable 800+ HP build, we recommend the 2.85" GripTec pulley. GripTec technology uses a micro-machined surface to prevent belt slip, ensuring that every ounce of energy from the crank is converted into boost.
- Boost Levels: A 2.85" upper pulley typically adds 3-4 psi of boost over stock. This is the "sweet spot" for 93-octane pump gas, providing a massive torque increase without putting undue stress on the factory long block.
- The Heavy-Duty Belt: Do not overlook the belt. High-boost applications require a heavy-duty green belt designed to resist stretching and heat under high RPMs.

Fuel Your Power: Injector Upgrades
More air requires more fuel. The factory TRX fuel injectors reach their safety limit quickly once you add a pulley and intake. To maintain a safe Air/Fuel Ratio (AFR) and avoid a lean condition that could destroy your engine, you must upgrade your fuel delivery system.
- ID1050X Injectors: The industry standard for Hellcat and TRX builds. These injectors provide the flow necessary for 800+ crank horsepower on 93-octane or even E85 blends. They offer superior atomization and idle quality, making your high-performance truck drive like a stock vehicle until you bury the throttle.
- Safety Margin: Running larger injectors allows the fuel system to operate at a lower duty cycle, reducing wear on the pumps and providing a "safety cushion" during high-speed runs.

Exhaust Your Limits: High-Flow Systems
Restricted exhaust flow creates backpressure, which increases engine temperatures and limits power. To hit your 800 HP goal, you need to let the HEMI breathe.
- American Racing Headers: Long-tube headers are the ultimate exhaust upgrade for the TRX. By replacing the factory manifolds with American Racing Headers, you significantly reduce exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) and unlock a visceral, aggressive exhaust note.
- Cat-Back Performance: Complete the package with a high-flow cat-back system. The AWE Tuning 0FG Cat-Back Exhaust uses 180 Technology® to eliminate drone while providing the high-octane soundtrack your truck deserves.

Tuning For Precision: The PCM/TCM Unlock
All the hardware in the world is useless without the software to control it. The RAM TRX features a locked PCM (Powertrain Control Module) from the factory. To recalibrate for your new pulley, injectors, and intake, you must unlock the PCM.
- Custom Tuning: A professional calibration via HP Tuners is required. This adjusts fuel maps, timing advance, and boost limits to ensure the engine operates within its safety parameters.
- TCM Tuning: Don't forget the transmission. The ZF 8HP95 transmission is stout, but a TCM (Transmission Control Module) tune adjusts shift points and increases line pressure to handle the massive torque of an 800+ HP build.
